Crystal Clear Soap Base Recipe (Melt & Pour Style)

This recipe gives you a transparent soap base you can later customize with herbs, colors, fragrance, or skincare ingredients.

Ingredients

500g Coconut oil

300g Castor oil

200g Palm oil

145g Caustic soda (NaOH)

300g Distilled water

250g Glycerin

200g Sugar

120ml Alcohol (95% ethanol or strong clear alcohol)

Optional Additives

Fragrance oil

Soap colorant

Vitamin E

Aloe vera extract

Method

Step 1 — Prepare Sugar Syrup

Mix the sugar with a little warm water.

Stir until fully dissolved.

Set aside.

Step 2 — Make the Lye Solution

Carefully add caustic soda into distilled water.

Stir well and allow to cool.

Step 3 — Melt Oils

Combine coconut oil, castor oil, and palm oil.

Heat gently until fully melted.

Step 4 — Soap Making

Pour the lye solution into the oils.

Blend until light trace.

Step 5 — Add Transparency Ingredients

Add glycerin slowly.

Add alcohol carefully.

Add the sugar syrup.

Stir continuously on low heat.

Step 6 — Cook the Soap

Cook gently until the soap becomes smooth and translucent.

Avoid overheating to prevent cloudiness.

Step 7 — Pour Into Mold

Pour into silicone molds.

Spray the top with alcohol to remove bubbles.

Step 8 — Cure

Allow to harden for 24–48 hours.
